The government have released news of their intention to introduce a Green Homes Grant, benefiting landlords. There is existing legislation in place stating that all EPC’s on rental properties must be rated ‘E’ or better.

The introduction of the Grant gives landlords an opportunity to ensure their properties are graded higher, and so, further protect themselves against changes that could be seen in future legislation.

Up to a maximum of £5000, the grant offers to pay £2 for every £1 spent. The aim of the Green Homes Grant is to upgrade over 600,000 homes across the UK, saving hundreds of pounds each year on their energy bills. The scheme will be open for applications in September.
